The mark of a truly established golf club is its ability to draw people, organisations and events to seek out and choose its services and facilities.
Owing to the stature our club enjoys – the pristine condition of the championship 18-hole course, luxurious and well appointed clubhouse in an idyllic setting, and devoted staff, The Mines Resort & Golf Club has become a central hub and worthy venue when it comes to choosing the perfect venue to host a prestigious event.
Over the past twelve months we have played host and organiser to numerous launches, gatherings, tournaments and anniversaries, and this can be attributed to many factors, not least our reputation for being able to accommodate client’s requests and tailor our services to best suit their needs.
This rich history behind this Robert Trent Jones creation – an 18-hole Championship tract and a masterpiece of environmental restoration and constructive reengineering – is that it was transformed from an open cast mine into terrain brimming with a plethora of flora and fauna.
Construction commenced on the course in 1993 and when completed, it was left to mature for a year, all the while being highly maintained. It was officially opened for play in 1994 by former Prime Minister, Tun Dr. Mahathir bin Mohamad, who was then appointed as the Patron of the Club.
The par-71 parkland-styled course comprising the Crane and Eagle Nine, plays 6,966 yards from the championship tees, but is golfer-friendly with wide tree-lined fairways and well-contoured greens.
Designed by world-renowned architect, David Klages, in collaboration with Veritas Architects, the 90,000 sq feet edifice was completed in 1996.
Its external façade exudes unique architectural features through five distinctive pyramidal roofs with an observation tower as the summit. The Clubhouse’s interior design is rustic, yet it complements minute contemporary art together, with a semblance of modern technology, whilst radiating an atmosphere of warmth and cosiness.
The first structure that greets members and visitors alike is a towering effigy of a fiercely-proud eagle perched with its wings semi-open, whilst the entrance to the Clubhouse via the prominent porte-cochère opens to a lobby with high-vaulted ceilings, clerestory louvers, separate pavilions linked by covered walks and a landscaped atrium.
The clubhouse in its entirety presents an air of grandeur amid breath-taking views of lush greenery set against an iridescent 150-acre lake that perfectly mirrors the surrounding
Well-appointed yet understated and elegant facilities comprising Changing Rooms, for men and ladies, a well stocked Pro-Shop and exclusive driving range are at hand.
Perfectly complementing these facilities are the F&B options, which include the Palong Terrace that overlooks the course and a spectacular lake, making it the ideal location for formal or casual dining.
The Hall of Fame plays host to gatherings that require catering services, all provided in-house and to client’s requirements. This unique venue earned its name having hosted golfing icons and dignitaries, including Tiger Woods, in 1999 at the World Cup of Golf.
Course conditions are regulated and strictly maintained by a crew of experts in their field and the security of the surrounds is never in doubt as security personnel patrol the area in and around this exclusive gated and guarded community.
This year we are proud to say we were the host venue for the 29th SEA Games, truly an honour and a test of our abilities on the regional stage, which was open to extensive TV and media coverage. This monumental staging required a level of co-ordination for the legion of volunteers, intense media presence, player comfort and security as well as dignitaries surrounding the Games and the tournament.
Not long after that, our Club was host to a SAP Golf game graced by LPGA Tour player, Alison Lee, who was here competing in an international tournament, the Sime Darby LPGA.
Tournaments aplenty were hosted throughout the year – corporate, private, charity centred and friendly inter-club matches graced our fairways and we acknowledge them for choosing us. These include – Swing for Strays, SAS Golf, IJM, KOSAS, KGA President Cup, MTWA Golf Championship, BMW Golf, Maybank Friendly Golf Game, Auto Bavaria X Golf, MBB Raya Golf Celebration, DBS, Perodua Invitational Golf, PORSCHE Golf, WAGC National Final, UDA Golf, Golf Persahabatan APTD VS X-PDRM, Braun Buffel Golf, Audi Quattro National Final, Mastercard & Public Bank Berhad Golf Invitational, Kejohanan Golf Jemputan Raja Muda Worldwide Holdings Selangor, World Amateur Golfer Championship Malaysia, Golf AZH, Petronas MLNG Shareholders Golf and Bridgestone Amateur Open.
Complimenting these events were a number of launches and presentations,
and these included Srixon Sports Asia presenting the Malaysian SEA Games
golf team with their official equipment and later in the year, Srixon Sports Asia
launching their latest range of XXIO X equipment.
As our star rises and our popularity soars, we can look forward to welcoming back those who have experienced our exceptional hospitality, and look forward to greeting new visitors who appoint us as their venue of choice.
