Mines Endurance Golf 2017 – Taking It All In Their Stride

Golf is not a game for the faint of heart, so teeing it up for the Endurance Golf tournament means you’ve got to bring your A-game if you want to be a winner in this two-round test of skill and endurance.

That’s just what this year’s competitors did on December 2, 2017, and the outcome was a sight to behold as William Houng Lee (handicap 4) bagged the top prize in the A Medal Category with a score of 155. For his reward, he received a beautiful trophy to add to his

growing collection, and a new Cleveland TF 134 putter to spice up his game.

Runner-up, with a score of 162, was Muhammad Imran (3) and he took home a Huntington Putter, while Fathil Ismail (10) had a score of 172 and took home a Srixon Back Pack.

In the B Medal category the results read like a family reunion, with three Sim’s taking up the top three places.

First, and winner of the main prize, Sim Wei Mun (14) with a score of 165, Sim Wei Tang (15) was runner-up with a score of 172, and hot on his heels was Sim Wei Han (15) with a score of 178.

The Ladies Category was snapped up by Alice Wong Chui Hong (20) with a

score of 138. She took home the winner’s trophy, and a Cleveland CB56 Wedge. Second place went to Nor Haslina Md Dahari (13) with a score of 155.

In the MGL/MCGL category Mohd Shahir bin Ibrahim (13) emerged champion with a score of 163, while Abdul Manaf Bakar (18) had to settle for second on 167.

The last set of prizes were for the Open/Guest category and C.L. Moh (14) came back with a score of 165 to beat Dato’ Jalil (18) by two to take top honours.

There were a host of Novelty Contests throughout the tournament and all winners took home a dozen Q-Star Golf Balls. The Nearest-to-Pin had four winners starting with Dato’

Mohd Fauzi on Hole 5 after he landed 31/2 feet from the pin. Imran was an inch away on Hole 7, Dato’ Lawrence Chang 4 feet on Hole 11 and Nor Halsina Md Dahari 5 feet on Hole 16.

Ronald Leong earned the prize on Hole 1 in the Nearest-to-Line contest when he was 2 inches away, and Abdul Manaf was 2 feet 4 inches away on Hole 15.

The Longest hitters were Mohd Shahir Ibrahim on Hole 3 when he drove 292 metres, and on Hole 14 it was Sim Wei Mun with a 269 metre drive.

There were no takers in the Bull’s Eye contest.

Needless to say there were a host of Lucky Draw prizes to reward the participants and round off a beautiful day of competition at The Mines.
