Our two-day Club Championship, held on 9 and 10 August, was an outstanding success, in part because of the eager participation of members and the support given by a host of sponsor. There were plenty of prizes to go around, both for golfers who played well and the lucky ones in the novelty events.
William Houng Lee (5) took the field by storm when he produced the best two-day gross score of 72-77 for a 5-over 149 to clinch the Overall Championship title.
Foo Khoi Phin (12) finished second at 13-over 157, and a further six strokes down was Jason Daniel (12) in third.
In the Senior Championship, Tan Sri Eugenio Campos (6) emerged victorious after a countback over Dato’ Dhalan Mohd Rashid (10). Both shot identical 166s, while Tan Sri Megat Zaharuddin (15) took third spot at 175.
In the A Division, Fathil Ismail (12) won the title after carding a two-day total of 140 nett. Seven shots behind were Law Fook Fui (12) and Tok Kim Wah (12), who secured second and third position respectively.
Meanwhile, the B Division Nett title went to Kwan Yoong Yu (14), who posted 141 nett, Kwan’s margin of victory was one shot better than Ong Leong Huat (17). Chan Eng Soon was third, another stroke back, at 145 nett.
The C Division champion was Ronald Leong (19), who held off his challengers with 141 nett. Akazawa Noriaka (19) shot 152 for second place and Dato’ Ng Cheng Kuai (21) took third spot with 154.
In the ladies category, this year’s tournament witnessed the most number of women participants Molly Malakias’ impressive two-day total of 79 Stableford points won her the crown. Datin Lim Sho Hoo was second at 67 points and Christina Foo finished third with 65 points.
